Reimagining the future of criminal justice for NYC.
We partnered with the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice to rethink their digital communications strategy, design and technology. MOCJ designs, deploys, and evaluates citywide strategies to drive down crime, reduce unnecessary arrests and incarceration, and improve fairness. The office works with law enforcement, city agencies, not-for-profits, foundations, and others to build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety. Visit Site

Their website redesign needed to reflect the complexity of its work, while making it easier for NYC residents, policymakers and civil society to access to relevant information and data. Our eight month engagement included 20+ in-depth stakeholder and user interviews, including internal staff to nationally recognized criminal justice experts. These interviews and an audit of other criminal justice websites influenced our decisions for:
To help MOCJ better tell the story of its work, we integrated a data visualization tool that used NYC criminal justice data from more than 50 data points. The charts were used across the site to show the success of the office’s reforms and work.

We partnered with the NYC Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice to launch the plan to close Rikers Island. In a compressed timeline we collaborated, concepted, designed and built a digital experience that illustrates New York City’s roadmap, while tracking progress, visualizing data and engaging NYC citizens.
